I wanted to take the day today and write a little about what a real business does and how a business operates. I really believe this is good content and information for all those who want to start a home based business with network marketing or a multi-level marketing company.
First you really need to understand some simple facts, which may be over-looked in the excitement of running a business for yourself. Here it is. It takes planning and work. You will not get around these facts about running a home based business or any business.
So here we go. The top 10 tips for a business in your home. Or what a real business does everyday and yours should too.
1. A real business has hours of operation: This is such a simple thing but so very vital to your sanity. You have to have posted hours of operation. If I go into work everyday at 8 AM and leave work at 5 PM. Thos will be my hours of business operation. If you are only going to be in your office (business) from 1-5 those will be your business operation hours. Like everything. You need a good balance. So post up your hours.
2. A business will make appointments with clients: This goes back to your list. You are always talking with people. Setting up appointments with them and calling to confirm the appointment. Tracking everything so you know where you are going and who you are talking to at what time.
3. Interviews w/ prospects and employee?s: I like this one. I am continually interviewing people for open positions in my business. I have people send me resumes to review and I call the prospects I feel have the qualifications for the positions I have open in my organization.
4. Training meetings, Video conferences, Staff meetings: This is continual in any business. I am always putting together training for my team or a workshop I am doing. I have live video conferences with my team leaders from all over the country once or twice a week. I have a staff meeting with my mentor and other leaders in my business. I am sending video emails to my customer base or post a blog or information on my company nerve center.
5. Business plan?s- for operations, development, growth, social media, marketing/sales, budgets: This is huge. You have to have a business plan. If you don?t have a plan and strategies for moving your business forward. You are going to be spinning your wheels and going nowhere. I have a plan for future business development. The growth of my organization and marketing strategies for my business with social media. I have my Business budget and I know how much I have or don?t have to spend. I check my sales each day and start to make plans for marketing my products for January. Any real business will have plans and strategies.
6. Income goals Monthly, weekly, quarterly, annually: How important is this for a business. How much money is my goal for this week, month or quarter to meet my operating budget. Tracking it so I know if I am fall behind my goals or if I am ahead of my goals.
7. Events, expos, seminars, and parties: This goes along with number 9 personal development skills. Seminars, Annual Corporate Conventions, Expos & Events. These are events we all need to go to so we can learn what others in the business are doing. So we can bring back the information to our team and integrate new strategies, which can enhance strategies in our business. Don?t forget the office Christmas party!!!
8. Payroll: Any business has payroll to do. My business is no different. I pay myself once a week. My businesses get paid weekly, Bi-monthly whatever it maybe but you need to be paid.
9. Personal Development Skills: Anyone in a business has a personal development program. Usually called Human Resources. At my full-time job I am learning interpersonal relationship skills. So I can relate to my workers better. Yep you guessed it. You need to develop those skills you lack. If you are shy with taking to people. You need to develop those skills. If you don?t know much about a computer. You need to take a computer-training course to develop the skills you need.
10. Customer Relations: You have to be able to relate to your target market of customers. You will supply information to your customers to attract them to you to start a conversation with them. You have to learn the skill to talk to a customer like a business owner.
